How to make your own crochet floral crown

While most people think that crocheting is a hobby for spinsters, Moms, or Grannies, I actually started this hobby since I was eleven. I have been crocheting for about 10 yrs already, and I never get tired of it.

Every girl who have tried wearing a crown or tiara definitely felt like a princess. What made me try making these floral crowns is because of wanting to experience that same feeling as well. So here are the steps on how I did my crochet floral crown.

Step 1. Have some thin wires ready, here I used green colored ones, so that it'll complement with the color of my thread later.

Step 2: Shape it into a ring, to a size of your liking.
Step 3: Make a vine like covering. I used this pattern.

1. Chain 250. You can adjust the length according to your preference.
2. Single crochet to all 250 chains.

Step 4. Wrap the crochet vine around the ring.

Step 5: Sew both ends together.

Then it will look like this.

Step 6: Make your own crochet flowers. Here I used carnations and roses, but you can use other flower patterns. For the crochet carnations, I used this pattern.

Chain 5. Slip stitch to form ring.

Round 1: Chain 3 (acts as first double crochet). 15 dc in ring. Join in 3rd chain of starting ch 3. (16 dc)

Round 2: Chain 3 (acts as first double crochet). Double crochet in join stitch. 2 dc in each double crochet all the way around. Join in 3rd chain of starting ch 3. (32 dc)

Round 3: Chain 3 (acts as first double crochet). Double crochet in join stitch. 2 dc in each double crochet all the way around. Join in 3rd chain of starting ch 3. (64 dc)

Round 4: Chain 3 (acts as first double crochet). Double crochet in join stitch. 2 dc in each double crochet all the way around. Join in 3rd chain of starting ch 3. (128 dc)

Round 4: Single crochet in join stitch. *Chain 3, sc in first dc. *Chain 3, sc in next dc. Repeat from * all the way around. End with slip stitch in first sc.

Finishing:

Working on the wrong side and using a needle, thread yarn or crochet thread through the bottom of each double crochet of Round 3. Pull yarn or thread snug to form the base of the flower . Tie off. Bunch and shape the petals of the flower.

Crochet Rose Pattern:
1. Chain 57.

2. Row 1 (Wrong side): (Dc, ch 2, dc) in sixth ch from hook (5 skipped chs count as first dc plus ch 2), *ch 2, skip next 2 chs, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch; repeat from * across: 36 sps.

3. Row 2: Ch 4, turn; 4 dc, 1 trc in next ch-2 sp, sc in next ch-2 sp, (1 trc,4 dc, 1 trc in next ch-2 sp, sc in next ch-2 sp) 5 times, (1 trc, 7 dc, 1 trc, in next ch-2 sp, sc in next ch-2 sp) 5 times, ( 1 trc, 10 dc, 1 trc in next ch-2 sp, sc in next sp) 7 times; finish off.

Thread yarn needle with yarn end from beginning chain. With right side facing and beginning with first petal made to roll,  sew to secure as you roll.

Step 7: Make your leaves. I used this pattern.

1. Chain 21.
2. Slip stitch on the 1st and 2nd chain from hook, 2 sc, 2 hdc, 3 dc, 3trc, 3 dc, 2 hdc, 2 sc, 2 slip stitch, chain 1, turn on and follow the same pattern as the other side.

Step 8: Sew the leaves on the flower. I used two leaves per flower.

Step 9: Sew the flower on your ring.

TAAAADDDAAAA! This is the final form.

These is the floral crown with roses, I prefer to have it half covered with roses.
